Acceptable use

What you must not do

Using FlowReader, on any platform, you must not:

• Break the law, or use the service to help someone else break it
• Store, process or share content you have no right to: including redistributing copyrighted material through collection sharing
• Bypass access controls, paywalls or authentication on services you do not have the right to reach
• Distribute malware, or use the archive as a delivery mechanism for it
• Abuse third-party services through FlowReader: scraping at a volume or rate that degrades them, or evading their rate limits
• Attack the FlowReader services: denial of service, traffic flooding, or attempts to reach another account’s data
• Use the newsletter alias or sharing invitations to send unsolicited bulk mail or to harass anyone
• Resell, sublicense or share a single subscription across people it was not bought for

Security research is different

Good-faith security research inside the rules on the vulnerability disclosure page is authorised, and nothing here overrides that. If you are testing within those rules you are not breaking these.

What happens if these are broken

We would rather ask than act. In most cases we will contact you, explain the problem and give you a chance to put it right.

For serious or repeated breaches, we may suspend or terminate server-backed access: anything harming another user, anything illegal, or anything threatening the service itself. Where the law requires notice and an opportunity to remedy, you get it. We terminate the accounts of repeat copyright infringers.

Losing server-backed access never locks your library. The local application keeps working and your data stays exportable, because taking someone’s reading hostage is not a proportionate response to anything.

Reporting a breach of these rules

If something shared with you through FlowReader breaks these rules, or is illegal, report it through the contact form or at contact@flowreader.io. Copyright notices should follow the process in the terms of service. We will tell you what we decided, and you can dispute it by replying.
